Born of Jewish ancestry [3] Bourret grew up in Hacienda Heights, California. However, in 1996 she moved to the United Kingdom to launch her modelling career.[4]
Bourret has appeared on over 250 covers[5][6] which have included Vogue, GQ, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Maxim, FHM and the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated.[7] She was voted worlds sexiest woman by the News of the World, GQ magazine's Woman of the Year and Maxim's International Woman of the Year for three consecutive years.[8] She has been featured in television ad campaigns for Diet Coke and Pizza Hut alongside Jonathan Ross.[9]
In 2000, Bourret entered into a licensing agreement with Debenhams, giving her name to a lingerie range. However, in 2006, Bourret bought back her license, invested her own money into the business and subsequently founded 'By Caprice Lingerie'. Since then she has expanded into swimwear, sleepwear and bedding, amongst other products[10][11]
Alongside her main profession of business woman and model, she has done a variety of film and television work. She starred in the HBO film Hollywood Flies[12] and has also appeared in Nailing Vienna,[13] and Jinxed In Love also for HBO. Bourret has also appeared in the soap operas Hollyoaks, Dream Team (TV series) for Sky 1 and in the English comedy show Hospital.
In 1998, Bourret hosted the UK television series, Caprice's Travels. The series followed Bourret's tour through several major holiday destinations around the world. Bourret has appeared on Friday Night's All Wright as well as several award shows, including the European MTV awards and the World Music Awards, the British National Television Awards in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and several series for the television channels VH1 and E! Entertainment Television. In 2000, she filmed the Channel 4 documentary Being Caprice, in which a camera hidden on her person recorded her life for ten days.[14] Also that year she hosted an evening at The Oscars and hosted the red carpet event for the American Music Awards both live on ABC Network.[15]
In early 2005, she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. She continued to make appearances on companion show Big Brother's Little Brother until it switched channels in 2010.[16]
She was a cast member on the fifth season of the VH1 reality series The Surreal Life and also appeared in the reality shows Celebrities Under Pressure, Celebrities Disfigured, Three Celebrities and a Baby, and Road Raja.
In June 2006, she starred in the English independent movie Perfect Woman, produced by Olympus Productions Limited. This followed an earlier appearance in the film The Man with Rain in His Shoes alongside Penelope Cruz.[14]
In 2007, Bourret was a judge on Sky 1's Project Catwalk and Britain's Next Top Model.[17] Three years later she took the role of head judge on TV3's show Style Wars in Ireland.[18]
On November 13, 2008 she came joint second with Jimmy Osmond in a Celebrity Come Dine with Me episode that also featured Nicky Clarke and Nancy Sorrell.[19]
Bourret starred on stage in the hit musical Rent playing the lead 'Maureen' at The Prince of Wales Theatre on the West End and also performed in The Vagina Monologues at the Arts Theatre in London's West End.[20]
In South Africa, Bourret produced and starred in the off-Broadway production Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical playing the lead 'Lisa' at the Tesson Theatre in Johannesburg in 2007.[21]
In 1999, Bourret was signed to Virgin Records and subsequently released her first pop single, "Oh Yeah"[22] (UK #24), and then the 2001 follow-up single, "Once Around the Sun" (also UK #24).[23][24]
